Audio Innovations Series 800C Preamp Upgrade

The Audio Innovations Series 800C Preamp is a simple, effective and good sounding pre. However, it does have one major weakness and this is the power supply which is a little noisy. This holds the sound quality back somewhat.

To combat this we replace the electrolytic smoothing capacitors with the fantastic F&T SI Capacitors. The next stage is to add a choke filter which really transforms the sound! Bass, mids and treble all become much cleaner, smoother and more natural. Dynamic contrasts are improved dramatically too.

To capitalise as much as possible on the cleaned up power supply, we then replace the original signal path capacitors with a selection of Mundorf EVO and Mundorf Supreme film capacitors.
